Description:
From a fear of all out war came the design for the Phalanx-class Battlecruiser. It was based on original hull-lays of the Templar-class, and, built by the same shipyards lauding the success of the Templar-class line, bears much of the same design ideas, general structure, and internal components. On that note, it maintains the same reactor systems and all-electric design, streamlining training vastly.

The Phalanx-class, with considerably thicker armor than the Templar it was designed alongside, was meant to wade through battle, taking hit after hit while dishing out damage. Many of it's concepts are from those ships of old, along with newer ones. All of it's critical systems, to include the reactors reside within the main hull, where the outriggers protect it from enemy fire and support it should torpedo strikes endanger the vessel, which it has the necessary counter-torpedoes to deal with.

The Phalanx-class, apart from a vastly larger arsenal, bears a massive Phased Radar Array, giving it unprecedented radar range. It's Radar is by far one of it's greatest assets, allowing it to monitor the airspace around entire regions, acting as a command center for ballistic missile and air-defense. The Phalanx can guide and coordinate entire fleets of vessels and help in aircraft direction, allowing carriers to sit further back away from the battle while the Phalanx goes toe-to-toe with the enemy forces, directing swarms of aircraft while launching it's own massive missile volleys, striking down those that endanger it.
Apart from VLS tubes and it's main guns, contrary to the battleships and battlecruisers of old, the Phalanx has no additional offensive weaponry. That is to say, it has only primary weaponry, unless it's 155mm guns are to be counted as secondary guys. Beyond that, it's design pours into defensive weaponry and electronic warfare, ensuring it's fleet and itself remain absolutely protected. The Phalanx can act as a control hub for fleet point defenses, it's large computer banks coordinating battle-defense to ensure maximum Point Defense effectiveness.

It's main 305mm (12 inch) dual cannon can not only fire large, guided rounds, but encased missiles as well, giving it's weaponry unprecedented range, albeit at a slower rate of fire than a VLS-volley, allowing the Phalanx to make deep-inland strikes.
As for RHIB bays, the bay of the Phalanx is identical to that of the Templar and Crusader: a centerline bay allotting for four standard RHIBs (or 1 fast assault craft) and two storage bays on either side, utilizing cranes to load and unload RHIBs from the centerline bay.
